PRE-AP SUMMER READING FOR LANGUAGE ARTS
Dear incoming Pre-AP Language Arts Participants and Parents:
Welcome to Pre-AP Language Arts! We look forward to meeting all of you next year! In order to enrich your learning experiences, we have prepared a curriculum that is both challenging and engaging. Before anything, consider the following question—how is Pre-AP Language Arts different from regular Language Arts? Over the course of the year, we will study novels and plays with intensive reading, writing, and creative thinking skills. You are expected to work at a faster pace, and in order to be able to discuss, debate, speculate, hypothesize, and make connections to other works and other disciplines during class, you are expected to complete reading and prep work at home.
Attached is your summer reading criteria; please read the assignment very carefully and email Mrs. Naylor or Mrs. Ford with any questions. Over the course of the summer, you will read ONE book of your choice from the list provided on the next page. Please make sure you are reading a work of FICTION! You will submit your summer reading activities on August 15, the first Monday of school.
It is imperative you allow yourself enough time to thoroughly read the novel as well as put effort into your activities. In consideration of summer vacation, we will be checking our email as often as possible. We will respond to any questions as soon as we are able to. Also, keep in mind this will be our first impression of you and your creative abilities, so do your best.
We look forward to meeting you in person in August.
